After the separation of his first band, (Saver Tiger / Saber Tiger), he join X.

In August, 1993, he publishes his first solo single and his first album in February, 1994.
In 1997, after the separation of X JAPAN, hide create the bands Zilch, (with american musicians), and Spread Beaver, (japanese punk).

One year later, (may 2nd, 1998 ), hide dies, hung on the handle of its door. Some people think of a suicide, but the official thesis explains that it's an accident:
Hideto Matsumoto was in the habit of making an exercise of relaxation for the back : take place a towel around the neck and in a handle. This may 2nd, he returned of "alcoholic" evening and would have fallen asleep during this exercise.
It's his girl friend who will find him fainted, choked thus.
He died some hours later at the hospital.

A wave of suicides gets then Japan.
The members of X JAPAN appealed to reason for the fans of the guitarist.


hide is at the origin of the sentence " PSYCHEDELIC VIOLENCE CRIME OF VISUAL SHOCK " which will be used by the media to name the eccentric bands like X JAPAN : the Visual Kei.
